Alexandra Svokos is a versatile manager with experience in editing, data analysis, and strategy. She is currently senior digital editor at Kiplinger, managing a team covering financial news. She earned an MBA at NYU Stern.
She served as the senior editor at ABC News digital, running daily coverage for the network’s website, for three years, after a year as a digital editor. She navigated the network’s digital team through the COVID-19 pandemic and sudden move to remote work, Jan. 6, the start of the war in Ukraine, two Olympic Games, and more historic events. This included work celebrated by ABC News’ first Edward R. Murrow Award for overall excellence in digital.
Previously, she served as a news editor at Bustle and the senior news editor at Elite Daily, managing a team of editors and writers on national and trending news. For Elite Daily, she traveled on the campaign trail throughout the 2016 election, from Des Moines to the Javits Center. She also covers women's issues and comprehensively followed the Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt Supreme Court case on abortion.
Alexandra earned an MBA at the Langone part-time program at NYU Stern, specializing in finance and management. She earned her undergraduate degree in economics and nonfiction creative writing at Columbia University, where she served as editor-in-chief at both Bwog and IvyGate, leading school news and gossip blogs.
Outside of her day job, she writes about music, culture and international relations, including coverage of opera and the migrant crisis, reported from the Mediterranean.
She loves cooking, terrible teen TV shows and Haruki Murakami. She makes a mean butternut squash risotto and is sometimes an aspiring mountaineer.
